The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Belhelvie, 1820-1854, Frame 34. “Belhelvie, 19th Sep 1837. The said day James Cheyne in Mill of Adro had a son born by Margaret Scott his wife and baptized on the 30th September called Alexander”.1,2

James Rust, Minister of the Established Church of Scotland in Slains Parish, Aberdeen performed the ceremony. No children of the couple were found. Neither could be identified on the 1881 Highlands census. His parents were confirmed to have been as herein recorded.5

Charles Cheyne died on 31 May 1931 at Warwick Road in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. His obituary was published in The Brisbane Courier, Brisbane, Tuesday, the 2nd of June 1931, page 13, which read: "Mr Charles Cheyne.
Mr. Charles Cheyne, a well-known pioneer of Ipswich, died at his residence on Sunday night, at the age of 87 years. He came from Scotland to Ipswich in 1870, and took up residence in Warwick-road, where ho lived ever since. Besides his widow, he leaves four sons, Messrs. Charles J., William A., Frederick G., and H. W. Cheyne, and three daughters, Misses Margaret, Edith, and Nell Cheyne, all of Ipswich. Tlie funeral took rjlace to the Ipswich Cemetery yesterday afternoon".6,7,8
